Instead of going through all these gyrations with CLI, AppImage, PPA's, SNAPs, or other third-party tools, why not use the "Lomanager" tool, specifically designed by LibreOffice developers to perform any and all maintenance necessary on LibreOffice.

In one execution Lomanager will delete the old version of LibreOffice, check whether all the dependencies are up to date, install the newest version of LibreOffice and delete all the work files.

It can also be used to completely uninstall LO if you no longer wish to have it on your system. Lomanager can also update individual LO modules without replacing the entire package. AND Lomanager is the program that should be used to install LibreOffice for the first time.

In fact, when I read the title of this article, I expected to be shown how to install LO on a LibreOffice-less Ubuntu system. Instead, the article describes all kinds of convoluted and improper ways of upgrading LibreOffice from one version to the next.
