@lx,

Thanks for sharing your experience.

Rocky Linux does a good job balancing a minimal server setup with enterprise-grade defaults, especially around security and package stability, so it's interesting to hear your perspective after such a long gap from the Red Hat ecosystem.

Repository speed can definitely make a noticeable difference during updates and package installs, especially on fresh minimal deployments.

As for the VM size, I think you may mean the allocated disk size rather than the actual installed footprint, since a minimal Rocky Linux installation is typically much smaller in size, as compared to lightweight distributions like Devuan, Rocky Linux does carry more enterprise-focused components and dependencies, which naturally increases the base size a bit.

I took a tour of this distribution yesterday since I hadn't used Red Hat in over 25 years, launching it as a VM under Incus. It has some pleasant features, and I felt at ease with the security choices they made, as well as the overall minimal setup of the build. I also enjoyed the speed of their repositories, which were downloading at over 70 MB/s.

The size of the VM is still quite large though, at more than 1 TB, whereas Devuan can run with around 200 MB.

Some tech writing tips:

> Avoid the phrase "click on...". You don't say "press on the 'Enter' key". Likewise, you should say "Click the 'Keyboard' option".

> Regarding the phrase "This is how the partition table looks like", the correct phrases are: "what it looks like" and "how it looks". The phrase should either read "This is how the partition table looks", or, "This is what the partition table looks like".

Other than these items, congratulations on a well-written, concise guide!
