I’m not sure why VirtualBox Guest Additions needed to rebuild its kernel to work back in 2020 — and still does with Fedora 42 and VirtualBox 7.1.8 in 2025 — but it seems to be necessary (at least for me). This solution worked perfectly on the first try and was actually fun to do. Thanks again!
