Yeah, older plasma TVs were pretty notorious for that HDMI overscan issue. Nice thing is KDE still keeps that adjustment around while most desktops seem to assume every display behaves perfectly now

And honestly, comfort matters a lot if you spend hours coding every day. A desktop that feels easier on the eyes can make a bigger difference than people think. Hope whichever distro you pick ends up being a good fit long term.

And KDE has a slider for TV overscanning, like when you plug in HDMI and the desktop environment gets cut off at the edges. Though I have not had this issue on newer TVs, my old plasma TV still does this.

However, that one is better for programming because it is gentler on the eyes, which is what led me here. Now I just need to decide which one to try.

In reply to Ravi Saive. After testing Kubuntu, I’m still sticking with Mint Cinnamon. It doesn’t give me any surprises - it just starts up and runs every day with no problems.
