Minor detail, but Linux Lite requires more memory than mentioned. I think I saw somewhere that 4GB was required – although 1GB is mentioned on their site. I tried installation with a 2GB machine and it failed saying there wasn’t enough. Thanks for the good work!

For the sound issue in Nix, try checking alsamixer for mute/low volume, and restart audio service (PipeWire or PulseAudio). If needed, install proper ALSA/firmware packages or use pavucontrol to switch output profiles. Audio issues on older hardware are common, but usually easy to fix.

As a 15-year-old boy, I am really enjoying Linux, and among the distros your team has provided, I have tried many of them. I think Nix is better in some contexts, but there is an issue with sound that feels horrible to fix. By the way, thanks to the Linux community for bringing my old hardware back to life.

As a Puppy user, I believe wattOS is the best vanilla and modular distro. There is no such thing as ‘one size fits all’, so just install what you need.
