Installation of Linux Mint 16 “Petra” MATE Desktop Edition
1. Boot your system with bootable Linux Mint 16 or ISO media. In this article, we have used Linux Mint 16 ‘MATE‘ 32-bit Live ISO media.

2. We will get Linux Mint Desktop, Click on CD ICON “Install Linux Mint” to get started.

3. Installation Wizard started, select Language.

4. Preparing to install Linux Mint.

5. Installation type. Select “Use LVM with the new Linux Mint installation”

6. Installation type “Something else” wherein you need to create partitions manually. (For advanced users)

7. Location Settings

9. Fill User informations.

10. That’s it. Installation Completed. Eject bootable media and restart system.

11. Login screen.

I don`t have a menu down left but a strange menu left on the top why? I have allready 2 times install Linux Mint Petra but stil the same. What do I wrong? and olso I can`t not shut down normaly but push the botton ctrl+alt+del and then a little menu ask me for shutdown, restart or cancelled. Can`t you help me pleas, sorry for the bad English.

linux is maybe supper, but today ,, I downloaded xos linus iso file and make bootable usb..
but system did’t boot from usb, or not exe file available in usb dir …
I just installed Linux Mint along side windows XP. For some reason I do not have the option of booting up in XP. My computer automatically boots to Linux. Help please. I’m sure I screwed up somehow but there ARE some things in XP that I need to use. Thanks a lot for any advice.
