  1. You didn’t include a step to check the Debian release notes before you start: https://www.debian.org/releases/bullseye/releasenotes.
  2. It is advantageous to comment out all third party repositories.
  3. Run apt-get autoremove after the update to remove obsolete packages.
  4. Don’t mix repositories: https://wiki.debian.org/DontBreakDebian.
