Upgraded at Beta 1. As a bonus it boots on about 5% less RAM compared with 15.10.

I think you are wrong, upgrading to PHP 7 from PHP 5 means better performance and stability, rest of the application will work on PHP 7 too, give a try on your local and see, if it works do a upgrade..

Absolutely I will upgrade to Ubuntu 16.04, I have been waiting a long time to be able to customize unity.

Not upgrading unless I find a way to keep php to version 5. Upgrading php to 7.0 will mean that the projects I am working on will not work.
