Meanwhile, you can install the same GIMP version as Snap package.

$ sudo apt-get install snapd
$ sudo snap install gimp

this is what I get.

@Jam,

You need to Upgrade your Linux Mint to latest version to get the GIMP 2.10 from the PPA.
