What is CrossOver 25?

CrossOver 25 is the latest version of CodeWeavers’ software that enables Windows applications to run on Linux and macOS platforms. Built on the open-source Wine project, CrossOver enhances compatibility and provides user-friendly tools for installation and management.

The recent release of CrossOver 25 includes updates such as Wine 10.0, Wine Mono 9.4.0, and vkd3d 1.14, which collectively improve application performance and compatibility.

Key Features of CrossOver 25:

  • Supports a broader range of Windows applications and games, including popular titles like Red Dead Redemption 2, The Last of Us Part 1, and Monster Hunter Rise.
  • Incorporates updates from Wine 10.0, offering over 5,000 changes that enhance application performance.

How to Get CrossOver 25 on Linux

You can try CrossOver for free for 14 days without any limitations. If you want the full version, it costs $24, which includes updates, bug fixes, email/phone support, and a special discount when renewing.

Buying CrossOver not only provides access to a robust solution for running Windows applications on Linux but also supports the ongoing development of the Wine project, which benefits the broader community.

  1. I have tried this several times. It seems to solely geared for gamers, of which I am not one. I tried to install QuickChangeTab, a simple app with which you can change tabs by using one key of your choice, complete disaster.

Any Windows programs it does install are all ancient. Give this a miss.

  2. I thought the idea of Linux was it ran OpenSource software, free with the option of contributing toward development. But there is a purchase price on Crossover !

    • Linux itself is open source (all distros?), and there are plenty of free and open-source software available for both Linux and windows, but not all Linux software is free or open-source.
