    How can I change the runlevel in Debian. There isn’t /etc/inttab?

    • Ravi Saive says:

      @Jfb,

      First make sure to check the default current run level.

      # systemctl get-default

      Next, check the available run levels and change it as shown.

      # systemctl list-units --type=target
      # systemctl set-default multi-user.target  [set run level to 3]

    @Ravi Saive

    Linux is not an operating system like Windows, Linux is a Kernel and no operating system.
    Linux is not the fastest operating system in this world.
    Also Android is 100% Linux. Just not with libc, it’s bionic instead, but the Kernel is Linux.
    Ubuntu Linux is an operating system, but Ubuntu BSD is another operating system.
    Suse Linux is an operating system.
    Fedora Linux is an operating system
    Linux Mint is an operating system

  8. Jon says:

    Well, the process may stay the same but depending on which distribution you have the files in which init uses may very slightly. Also, distributions such as Ubuntu uses upstart and it handles run levels a bit differently than others.

  9. ravindra says:

    can i download RHEL free

    • Jon says:

      RHEL is a distribution that needs a license and comes with RH support. If you’re looking for something similar try CentOS. Also, have a look at distrowatch.com to browse around and see the many flavors that are out there.

      • Donald D'Abrera says:

        It doesn’t need any license. You can register with RH for updates, but you can always use the base system once you install. There never was any requirement for licensing and there is nothing planned for future licensing.
